Moving to a care home can help to combat loneliness, especially after the loss of a spouse or partner. Getting to know staff and other residents goes a long way developing new friendships and helps people feel at home and part of their home’s community. Hearing about people's life stories is a great way to get to know them and discover shared experiences.
I am most proud of my involvement in the Lincoln Group Ramblers Association. Myself and late wife Molly used to have a caravan and travelled the country on holidays for over 40 years. We got to see so many beautiful places together.
My hobbies were woodwork and cabinet making. I also love photography, I enjoyed taking pictures of all the wonderful places my wife and I visited. I enjoy painting, especially landscape art in oils and pencil sketches. I dabble a bit in rhymes and poem writing it amuses me, and others so it seems!
I enjoy the beautiful garden at Eccleshare, sitting outside in the sunshine and feeding the birds, I also love the activities especially the group quizzes in the pub!
My favourite meal has got to be the apple and pear crumble we make from the trees in the garden. Delicious!
