At Fairfield Manor Care & Nursing Home near Hitchin, residents were excited to embark on this month’s wellbeing theme of ‘Wildlife’. Residents at the home have been busy redesigning areas of their garden, painting plant pots, making butterfly attractors, and much more, all to benefit wildlife in their garden.
‘Our residents at Fairfield Manor were delighted when this month’s wildlife theme for wellbeing was revealed, they love their garden and spending time outdoors. We have had so many ideas that we’ve set in place throughout this month, it’s been a busy time in our garden. Commented Home Manager Ioana Puscas.
‘This month we have worked with our residents’ and their relatives to design a section in our garden dedicated to helping wildlife such as bees, butterflies, birds, and insects. ‘Commented Wellbeing Coordinator Nichola Lazenby.
‘My son-in-law loved the idea of our wellbeing theme and crafted a wonderful bug house designed to look like Fairfield Manor.’ Commented resident, Kathleen.
‘We planted some lavender bushes and sprinkled meadow seeds around our tree to help the wildlife such as bees and birds’ Commented a resident at Fairfield Manor.
‘Our residents have been busy making lots of wildlife-inspired projects to add to our garden. They have made a toadstool with a well on top for water to attract the birds and butterfly attractors made with beads, wood bases, and drawings. They have also decorated birdhouses, and butterfly boxes and made birdfeeders with fruit and honey nut loop cereal and cones covered in sugar-free peanut butter and birdseed.’ Commented Wellbeing Coordinator Nichola Lazenby. “We can’t wait to see what types of birds, animals, and insects we attract to our garden over the summer months."
