Wellness Month at Country Court Care Homes

A new year is the perfect time for positive change! This January, residents at Country Court Care & Nursing Homes have been embracing ‘Wellness for the New Year’, exploring a variety of ways to support their well-being.

Relaxation & Pampering

At Ruby Lodge Care Home in Thirsk, residents enjoyed a soothing spa day, complete with a visit from a local nail technician and a warm foot spa. The day ended with a creative session of painting, drawing, and listening to relaxing music.

Over at Selwood House Care Home near Dorchester, residents indulged in a pamper day, which offered much-needed relaxation, eased tension, and revitalized both body and mind.

At Fenchurch House, residents not only enjoyed a rejuvenating pamper session but also introduced Pilates into their weekly routine. Well-being Coordinator Mihaela shared:

"We explained to our residents how important it is to practice Pilates and the benefits it offers, such as lowering blood pressure, improving posture, increasing circulation, and enhancing overall well-being. They were very interested to learn more and eager to take part."

Meditation sessions at Lostock Lodge encouraged residents to stop and take time for themselves. They followed simple breathing techniques to help them relax. The Namaste sessions took a holistic approach, focusing on all the senses. People enjoyed hand and head massages, while the room was filled with a beautiful, relaxing lavender fragrance and soothing music played in the background.

Healthy Eating & Nutrition

At Carter House Care Home in Raynes Park, residents took part in Veganuary, a global campaign that encourages people to try a plant-based diet. They sampled vegan meat alternatives for their morning snack and engaged in a fun veggie-themed quiz and activities.

The theme of ‘Good Health Starts from Within’ continued at The Laurels Care Home in Draycot near Cheddar and Hermitage House in Thrapston. Residents got creative, blending their own healthy smoothies packed with fruit and vegetables. They had two delicious options to choose from:

  • A green smoothie for hydration and energy
  • A protein smoothie with a yogurt base for a nourishing boost
