The Pines Care and Nursing Home in Hove, Brighton, recently hosted a Grand Opening event to celebrate its newly completed extension and refurbishment. The event was well attended by members of the local community and featured a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. Cllr Amanda Grimshaw, the Deputy Mayor of Brighton and Hove, officially opened the extended and refurbished facilities, joined by residents Brian and Allan, as well as the Home Manager, Tiago Conceicao.
The recent extension and refurbishment at The Pines Care and Nursing Home have added five new bedrooms, enhancing support for residents with residential, dementia, and nursing care needs in the Brighton and Hove areas. Guests at the Grand Opening were treated to an afternoon of live music, afternoon tea, and guided tours of the newly designed communal spaces. These include the Elegance Hair and Pamper Salon, a beautifully decorated dining area, a terrace, and the Coffee Club Café—a welcoming space for residents, families, and the local community to gather and enjoy together.
Cllr Amanda Grimshaw, Deputy Mayor, declared the refurbishment open with a speech ahead of cutting the ribbon.
"Good afternoon, everyone. As the Deputy Mayor of Brighton and Hove and a member of The Pines family, I’ve seen firsthand the exceptional care provided here. My sister Pat has been a resident for eight years, and my Auntie Doe spent her last year in this wonderful place. The Pines truly makes you feel like family, and nothing is ever too much trouble. I’m grateful for the extension, which means more residents can benefit from what I believe is the best care and nursing home in Brighton. Thank you all for joining us to celebrate this magnificent place."
The Bright Horizons Hove Day Nursery and Preschool also participated in the event, with children from the school in attendance. Charli, the Deputy Nursery Manager, shared her thoughts.
"We've been building a strong community connection with The Pines Care Home since last autumn, and it has been incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact on our children's learning and development. The children are always excited to visit the residents, engage in the activities offered, and interact with them during our fortnightly visits. We are grateful to the team at The Pines Care Home for always making us feel so welcome."
Home Manager Tiago Conceicao expressed his appreciation for the event's success.
"Thank you to everyone who attended; it was heartwarming to see such strong support from our local community. We are committed to continuing to provide the highest quality care for our residents and supporting their families every step of the way. We hope that our new spaces will be enjoyed by all and will enhance the experience for everyone involved.
