Residents and staff at Baycroft Flitwick Care Home near Ampthill enjoyed a month of Oscars themed activities. The month culminated in an awards ceremony held within the home, complete with a Hollywood Walk of Fame, where each resident received a personalised award.
‘Our Oscars event was amazing. We held it in the dining room with a walkway through the middle. Both residents and staff who had received more than one award had a star placed on the floor like the Hollywood Walk of Fame with their name on it. Everyone who attended our Oscars was amazed at the detail we had gone into and the enjoyment they felt during the whole afternoon.’ Commented Wellbeing Coordinator Bernie Hoo-Hing.
All attendees dressed smartly to match the Oscars theme, adding to the spirit of the afternoon. A total of 78 awards were presented, honouring categories such as Best Knitter, Most Happy, Best Carer, Most Helpful, and Best Photographer. All award nominations were given by residents, staff, and visitors, bringing a sense of community throughout the event.
‘All residents received an award at the Oscars event with some of our residents winning multiple and they were presented with chocolates as prizes which added an extra special touch.’ Commented Home Manager Corina Ashby.
The event even featured an official photographer, resident Roy, capturing memorable moments throughout the afternoon.
‘Not only were our residents celebrated during the Oscars event, but our dedicated staff team also received recognition for their work and contributions to our home. Staff were so over the moon to have an award at the event.’ Commented Home Administrator Danielle Gladwin.
