Selwood House Care Home in Charlton Down, Dorset, recently supported Dementia Action Week by hosting a Rock n Roll 50s-themed party as part of their ongoing fundraising efforts for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Customer Relations Manager Kate Andrew explained.
“At Selwood House, we offer a range of care services including, Dementia Care so supporting this cause is close to our hearts.
Our fundraiser featured live music from an Elvis impersonator who got everyone up and dancing with classic hits from the 50s and 60s. Our Wellbeing team decorated our home with an array of themed décor and our talented chefs added to the fun with a delicious buffet and afternoon tea spread.”
Tim, a resident at Selwood House, still talks about the afternoon with great enthusiasm. "I had a great time showing everyone my swing and dance moves," he said, reflecting on the day.
Becky Green, Home Manager at Selwood House shared her excitement about the event’s success.
“Events like this show exactly what we are all about. Being able to raise money for such a worthy cause and put huge smiles on everyone’s faces at the same time is truly special. Thank you to everyone who attended.”
The funds raised will go to the Alzheimer’s Society and the donations will aid the upcoming launch of our dementia café on Wednesday 5th June, supporting our commitment to providing valuable resources and support for those affected by dementia in our local community.
