Ruby Lodge Care Home in Thirsk hosted its first-ever coffee morning on Friday, November 8, 2024, bringing together the local community for a vibrant and welcoming event. Guests and residents enjoyed tea, coffee, and delicious cakes, while children from Keeble Primary School delighted everyone with heart-warming musical entertainment.
‘The highlight of the morning was the musical performance by Keeble Primary School. The children sang several popular songs, including ‘My Lighthouse’ by Rend Collective, ‘Power in Me’ by Rebecca Lawrence, and ‘A Million Dreams’ from The Greatest Showman. The beautiful voices of the children moved many of the residents to tears, while others tapped their feet and clapped along in happiness.’ Commented Customer Relations Manager Kirsten Idle.
‘Residents Collin and Eileen were particularly taken with the performance, smiling throughout and happily engaging with the music. Many guests expressed their hope that the children would return for every coffee morning. They also praised Ruby Lodge as a “five-star” home with beautiful décor, delicious food, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.’ Commented Home Manager Holly Hunton.
‘Our coffee morning featured an array of homemade cakes, including lemon drizzle, carrot cake, and butterfly sponge cake, all prepared by Chef Manager Elaine Cook. Howard, the site supervisor at Linx Construction, also contributed by making scrumptious coffee cupcakes as a special treat.’ Commented Customer Relations Manager Kirsten Idle.
Holly Hunton, Home Manager, commented: “The coffee morning had such a wonderful atmosphere. I’d like to extend my thanks to our amazing staff team and the local community for making the event so special.”
Local businesses, including Lara Nursery, also attended, helping to create a sense of connection among families and friends over “coffee, cake, and tea.”
Ruby Lodge Care Home will now host themed coffee mornings on the first Friday of each month from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, supporting local initiatives.
