On Friday, 6th September, Ruby Lodge Care Home in Thirsk was officially opened by the Mayor of Thirsk, Councillor Andrew Trueman. The ribbon was cut by Cllr Trueman, alongside Home Manager Holly Hunton, the first resident's Barry and Anna, and Country Court's Co-CEOs, Alykhan Kachra and Al-Karim Kachra. Ruby Lodge Care Home is the latest care home to be opened by the award-winning Peterborough-based care home operator.
The care home opens alongside Lara Nursery, which is set to deliver day care for children aged 0-5, offering a unique opportunity for intergenerational care in Thirsk. The 69-bed luxury care home been developed in partnership with Linestyle Architects and Linx Construction Building Contractors.
Ruby Lodge will be led by Home Manager Holly Hunton who brings a wealth of knowledge to the care home having worked in care since the age of 14. In the last 10 years she has commissioned two new services for Extra Care and has experience in residential care, domiciliary, and learning disabilities settings.
“I’m so excited to launch Ruby Lodge in my hometown of Thirsk” said Holly “We will be offering much needed residential dementia care to the most vulnerable in our community. We have a fantastic team of local staff who share the same drive and passion as I do to ensure Ruby Lodge is at heart of the community in Thirsk”.
Mayor Cllr Andrew Trueman expressed his delight at the opening, saying, “It’s a real honour and privilege to be invited today to see this amazing care home. Ruby Lodge is fantastic. It’s a real asset to Thirsk and the surrounding areas. Well done for all you’ve done and the hard work you’ve put in. I wish you all the very best for the future!”
Over the opening weekend, over 150 visitors enjoyed tours, food, and live music. One attendee commented, "It’s wonderful to finally see this magnificent building after watching its construction. The facilities are beautiful—it's like a 5-star hotel inside. It’s exactly what our town needed, especially the dementia care facilities."
Customer Relations Manager Kirsten Idle added, “The warm and friendly response from our local community was heartwarming. We were delighted to finally showcase our beautiful facilities to those eagerly awaiting this Grand Opening. We look forward to building strong connections and enriching the lives of our residents.”
Home Manager Holly Hunton also shared her gratitude, saying, “We received fantastic support for our Grand Opening raffle, Frank Family Butchers, Rowleys Florist, Alina Florist, Thirsk Racecourse, Carpenters Arms Restaurant and many others generously donating prizes such as food hampers, vouchers, fresh flowers, books, jewellery and much more.
Thanks to everyone’s contributions, we raised a wonderful sum of £254.42 for our residents’ comfort fund, which will be used for a special activity. We’re extremely grateful for the community’s involvement.”
