Ruby Lodge Care Home in Thirsk hosted its first Christmas Fair with resounding success, raising over £700 for their residents' comfort fund. This festive event brought together residents, families, friends, staff, and the local community for a day filled with great food, community connections, and entertainment.

‘Our Christmas Fair featured a variety of attractions for our local community to embark upon, including a festive market with local stallholders, performances by the Military Wives Choir and a guest guitarist Mark Stevenson, and a magical Santa’s Grotto. We also did a Christmas-themed raffle offering guests the chance to win wonderful prizes donated by generous local businesses such as Rowleys Florist Thirsk, Bianco Ristorante Thirsk, Three Tuns Thirsk, Yorks Of Thirsk, Thirsk Community Stars, Tesco Thirsk, Craftyfoxclay.’ Commented Customer Relations Manager Kirsten Idle.

Our Christmas Fair showcased an array of local talent, with stalls selling everything from handmade crafts to delicious treats:

Craftyfoxclay, Lara Nursery, Thirsk and Sowerby festival on the Flatts, Happy Hampers, Ruby Lodge Resident Craft Stall and Game and many more wonderful local stalls.

'The incredible sum of £700 was raised on the day, which will go towards the residents' comfort fund. We’re excited to use this money for future activities, gardening projects, and trips out for our residents’ said Home Manager Holly Hunton.

‘One unforgettable moment from our event was when a young visitor to Santa’s Grotto asked Santa to sing a song with her. Together, they sang “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” spreading smiles to everyone around.’ Commented Customer Relations Manager Kirsten Idle.

Guests and residents shared their gratitude for the event commenting “The planning of this event is second to none’ and ‘It’s wonderful to see the local community coming together”.

The day's success was made possible by the dedication of our Ruby Lodge staff team, many of whom came in on their days off to support the event. “It was truly a team effort, and the smiles on our residents’ faces made it all worthwhile,” said Home Manager Holly Hunton.

‘With nearly 200 visitors through the doors, our Christmas Fair was an opportunity to showcase Ruby Lodge and celebrate the festive season with our local community. Our residents are still talking about it today! It was a brilliant way to bring everyone together and create memories that will last long after Christmas.’ Commented Customer Relations Manager Kirsten Idle.
