Residents at Rose Lodge Care Home in Market Deeping enjoyed an Indian-themed day and party organised by staff for residents and their families . They enjoyed traditional Indian cuisine provided by Maharanis Restaurant in Deeping St. James, watched and joined in with traditional Indian dances, and listened to classic Indian songs by guest singers.
‘The idea of the day was to bring residents and staff together to share some of the culture and traditions from their home country. Our staff dancers included Alicia, Savita, Sona, Deepthy, Evelyn Saju, Jenessa, Gianna and Jonathan. They all performed beautifully and put lots of smiles on our residents and families’ faces. Some performers even wore beautiful traditional Indian dress which the residents were in awe of.’ said Home Manager Nogi John.
The singers were Jomon & Neethu Martin, who sang some classic Indian songs that captivated the audience. “Everyone listened carefully to the words and took it all in,” said Home Administrator Pramila.
The staff members also showed their talent and enthusiasm by singing a song by ABBA, along with resident Jennifer Setchfield. “This was very funny to watch and lovely at the same time to see the staff and residents bond. Nothing is too much for staff here at Rose Lodge Care Home,” said a resident’s family member.
The party ended with a group dance that involved everyone, including residents and their families. “Everyone picked up some traditional Indian dance and enjoyed learning about the culture. We hope to hold more days like this in the future,” said Wellbeing Coordinator Belle.
