Moat House Care Home in Great Easton, Essex, recently celebrated its first anniversary with a dazzling Gatsby-themed event. Since opening in October 2023, Moat House has become a lively hub for residents, families, and staff.
Home Manager Jade Smith opened the event by thanking residents, families, and the Great Easton community for their support over the past year.
“This journey has been truly rewarding,” said Jade. “Our events, from summer fairs to coffee mornings, have built strong connections and lasting memories. We’re excited to continue providing exceptional care and being a cherished part of Great Easton.”
Chef Manager Mahidhar Simham created a menu inspired by the Gatsby era, complemented by the signature mocktail, ‘Mr. and Mrs. Collins,’ served by Client Services Manager Gyalbo Tamang. The event’s entertainment featured a 1920s song performance by singer Gemma, mesmerizing magic tricks by Alex, and personalised caricatures by local artist Stephen.
“Wellbeing Coordinator Kerry Pennock added a special touch with handmade Gatsby-style headpieces for residents, who enjoyed dancing, posing for photos, and sharing stories,” shared Customer Relations Manager George Byford.
The celebration ended with one of Moat House’s first residents, Dee, cutting the anniversary cake, closing a memorable day. Guests shared their appreciation, noting, “It’s been a fantastic day—more than we expected!” and “It’s amazing Moat House has only been here a year; it feels like home.”
