Moat House Care Home Donates £500 to Support Easton Cricket Club’s 50th Anniversary

October 2024;

Moat House Care Home in Great Easton proudly donated £500 to Easton Cricket Club in celebration of the club’s 50th anniversary. The donation will support the ongoing renovation efforts at the cricket club, helping to enhance its facilities for the local community.

George Byford, Customer Relations Manager at Moat House Care Home, commented on the donation:

“We’re excited to sponsor our local cricket club to strengthen community ties and promote a healthy, active lifestyle for all ages. Cricket is a fantastic, inclusive sport that brings people together, and this sponsorship allows us to support our village’s well-being while keeping our residents connected with local events.”

The generous donation will go a long way -

Jade Smith, Home Manager at Moat House Care Home, added:

“Our contribution will assist in upgrading the cricket clubhouse, enhancing the experience for players and spectators alike. We hope these improvements will enable the club to host more events and encourage greater community participation.”

A five-year development plan for the club is now in progress -

Andy Barnard, Captain of Easton Cricket Club, shared his thoughts on the 50th-anniversary celebration:

“We celebrated our 50th anniversary over the August Bank Holiday weekend, despite the remnants of Storm Lilian making for a rather wet day. Around 50 guests attended on Saturday afternoon, and while we only managed to complete one walking cricket match before the rain returned, the event remained a success. The rain didn’t dampen spirits, and a second informal match involving current and former players continued for several hours.

Thanks to your generous donation and other local fundraising efforts, we’re now able to complete the exterior renovations of our pavilion by the end of this year.

Our five-year development plan includes starting internal renovations in 2025, which will involve upgrading the kitchen, creating changing areas for women and youth players, and adding indoor bathroom facilities. These improvements will make the club more welcoming and encourage greater community involvement. Thank you again for your generous support.”

Kerry Pennock, Wellbeing Coordinator at Moat House Care Home shared:

“We look forward to future events at the club, and who knows, maybe even a cricket match or two with our residents!”
