Walberton Place Care Home in Arundel, recently made a special wish come true for resident Maggie, who has always wanted to visit the theatre. A lifelong fan of music and live performances, Maggie shared her wish during a residents’ meeting, and the wellbeing team worked to make it happen.

The Make a Wish initiative at Walberton Place, part of the Country Court group, is dedicated to creating memorable experiences for residents. From boat trips and book launches to off-road driving and family tea parties, this program is a vital aspect of Walberton Place’s person-centred care approach. Staff take the time to understand each resident's unique hobbies and interests, tailoring activities to match their individual preferences.
Home Manager Edmalyn Consigna shred Maggie’s story.
“Growing up, Maggie didn’t have many chances to go to the theatre, but she has always been drawn to the experience. Her favourite show, Evita, holds a special place in her heart, and she often talks about how much she enjoys singing along to its well-known songs.
For this trip, Maggie was joined by her friend Maureen, whom she met at Walberton Place during a music activity. The two quickly bonded over their shared love of singing and dancing, making them the perfect theatre companions. Having the opportunity to go out, enjoy a live performance, and spend the day with a friend at the Chichester Festival Theatre made the experience all the more memorable.
With her husband also living at the care home, the day out gave Maggie a rare chance to focus on something just for herself. She loved getting immersed in the atmosphere, the music, and the buzz of a live audience—an experience she had long hoped for.”
