Castor Lodge Care Home in Castor, Peterborough , recently organised a fun-filled go-karting day at Midland Karting for Resident John, aged 86. This event was a dream come true for John, who loves trying new things. The Make a Wish initiative has seen residents from Castor Lodge and across the Country Court group enjoy special outings and activities, from boat trips and book launches to off-road driving and lots of family tea parties.
The Wellbeing Team explained.
“John is in a wheelchair, but he doesn’t let that stop him. He first showed his adventurous spirit last Summer when we learned to sail with the support of Peterborough Sailability Charity. His latest wish was to experience the excitement of Go-Karting. John wanted to share the fun and invited his friend and fellow resident Pat to join him to race."
John commented on the experience.
“It was a wonderful day, and I would like to thank the staff at Castor Lodge and Midland Karting for their support to make this happen. I had a wonderful time and enjoyed racing against Pat, as well as Manu, our wonderful Carer at Castor Lodge.”
“It’s moments like these that show what we are all about at Castor Lodge,” said Home Manager Victoria Potton. “We love helping our residents live their dreams. Seeing John and Pat enjoying the race was a highlight for all of us.”
This event is part of Castor Lodge's commitment to making life enjoyable and exciting for our residents. We believe in supporting our residents to try new things and enjoy every day.
