Ferrars Hall Care Home in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, is proud to support Black Cat Radio’s fundraiser for the Three Pillars Feeding the Homeless appeal. Thanks to the generosity of businesses like Ferrars Hall, who donated £280, the campaign has exceeded its £2,000 target, surpassing last year’s total—and donations are still coming in.
The Three Pillars Feeding the Homeless trust works tirelessly all year round, visiting locations like the Brewery Tap car park in Peterborough and St Neots. They provide essential items, including hot meals, drinks, pastries, toiletries, and even pet food. Warm clothing, sleeping bags, and tents are also distributed to those in need. In addition, the charity offers first aid and works closely with housing organisations to help individuals find safe accommodation.
The team at the Black Cat Radio station wanted to turn up the holiday cheer and support a fantastic cause again this year, with the support of local businesses, the idea being companies donate to a worthwhile cause and then record a Christmas message which will be played out on their radio station, spreading warmth and festive cheer to the local community as well as supporting a fantastic cause at the same time.
Katie Peters, Senior Customer Relations Manager at Ferrars Hall, has recently been interviewed along with Caroline Ignatius from Devika Care Company by Ste Greenall who is one of the volunteers from Black Cat Radio. The station is broadcast across St Neots and surrounding areas and is a multi-award-winning radio station which is focused on the community it serves, with a loyal following of regular listeners.
As well as the monetary donation to the Three Pillars appeal, thanks to some of the amazing residents at the home, they have been able to donate some scarves and woolly hats which they have been busy knitting. The home was first approached by Katy and Scott from Serenity Funeral Services at one of their knit and natter sessions asking if they could help to create hats and blankets for the maternity unit at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and then with the three pillars appeal it has evolved to be more, so larger scarves can be donated to the homeless.
One of the residents at Ferrars Hall Care Home has been the main knitter as she loves to knit and wanted to support the amazing cause, knitting as much as she possibly can.
Katie Peters commented, “The wellbeing of our residents is so important. Being involved in these appeals has given them a sense of purpose and made their time so meaningful. It’s wonderful to see their skills and passions put to good use, helping the local community. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness their joy and pride in making a difference.”
At Ferrars Hall Care Home, making a difference is at the heart of everything they do. Together with their residents and the wider community, they are proud to support causes that truly matter.
