Devika Day Centre Launches At Hermitage House

Devika Care Company is thrilled to launch its new Dementia Day Centre at Hermitage House Care Home in Thrapston. The first session is due to take place on Tuesday 9th of May at 10am-3pm. It will then be weekly, every Tuesday thereafter.

Information about the Devika Dementia Day Centre -

The Day Centre specialises in caring for those living with dementia, providing a range of meaningful activities and opportunities for friendship and companionship. Devika Day Centre is led by Caroline Ignatius who named the company after her mum, Devika, who has been living with dementia for 13 years now. Caroline is passionate about dementia care and is devoted to providing support for others who may also be caring for a loved one at home, as this is something she has experienced herself.

‘’Our dementia day centre is here to provide support and care to those living in the community with mid-late stages of Dementia, that may have additional personal care and behavioural needs. We are so grateful to Hermitage House for allowing us to hold these sessions in such a beautiful and safe environment.

Where the sessions will be taking place -

The sessions will be situated on the 1st floor of Hermitage House Care Home in The Old Coach House Pub, where we will provide dementia friendly activities on a secured floor, where you can enjoy the market square with an ice-cream parlour & arts and craft room. A light lunch and refreshments will also be provided, and we aim to have at least 1 carer for every 3 people. It’s designed so that a carer can have 5 hours of much needed respite, but we welcome loved ones to stay for the duration of the session if that is their preference.’’ commented Caroline Ignatius.

Home Manager Clare Hedge is delighted to host these sessions at the home commenting ‘The Devika Dementia Day Centres provide such a positive and meaningful impact for those living with dementia and we thought it would be great a great addition to introduce it into the community of Thrapston.’
