Residents at Rose Lodge Care Home in Market Deeping were joined by members of St Guthlac’s Church to take part in a community gardening activity. Volunteers from the church helped residents to plant brightly coloured flowers for their annual Country Court in bloom gardening competition.
‘Ladies from the local church visited us to plant some beautiful, scented sweat peas for our dementia friendly space. It was great to join up with our community in Market Deeping and build a friendship with them’ Commented Well-Being Coordinator Tatjana.
‘We organised the community gardening as part of our Country Court in bloom competition. The community was a great help as some of the residents go to the church every week and have a good connection with them. It was lovely to have them come along and help’ Commented Well-being Coordinator Belle.
‘Residents absolutely love Country Court in bloom. Many people have been keen gardeners and it’s wonderful to give them the opportunity to continue their interest in planting and maintaining their garden here at Rose Lodge. Our local church wanted to come along and join in with the gardening. Everyone had a great time chatting with residents about all things in bloom. Residents reminisced about their favourite flowers to plant, vegetables they have grown and favourite family gardening memories’ Commented Home Manager Noji John.
‘I think that we’ve all done a super job of transforming our garden. Residents have particularly enjoyed the planting of seeds which are now beginning to flower’. Commented Well-being Coordinator Toni.
