Community Coffee Morning at Ferrars Hall Care Home

The importance of residents to remain involved with the local community

Ferrars Hall Care Home in Huntingdon has been hosting a community coffee morning on the last Tuesday of the month and in recognition of their hard work and dedication to organising and running them, they have been awarded the gold level award from Ageing Allies.

The staff understand how important it is for the residents to be empowered to remain involved in their local community. With this in mind Katie Peters, the senior Customer Relations Manager decided that because the General Election was just around the corner, she would invite representatives from all parties standing in Huntingdon to their Community Coffee Morning at the end of June.

The residents were joined by local candidates

The residents and their friends and family were joined by Ben Obese-Jecty the Conservative Candidate for Huntingdon, chatting over drinks and cake, served by the wellbeing team, he talked about his time in the Army and listened to some of the stories from the residents about their younger years.

Sarah Smith, the candidate for the Reform Party in Huntingdon also attended the coffee morning. Sarah has been a resident of Huntingdonshire for over three decades and enjoyed taking a few minutes out of her busy schedule to visit the home and spend time talking with the residents.

Katie Peters commented “It was wonderful to be able to host Ben Obese-Jecty from the Conservative Party and Sarah Smith from the Reform Party. Thank you to you both for taking the time out from your busy schedules to meet our residents and answer their questions.”

Invitation to join residents for the next community coffee morning

The next community coffee morning will be on Tuesday 30th July at 10.30 am, everyone is welcome to join staff, residents and families for tea, coffee, fresh cake and a friendly chat. The residents love to socialise with groups and guests where they enjoy reminiscing and chatting, if you would like to attend, please contact Ferrars Hall Care Home for more details.
