Oakview Lodge Care & Nursing Home in Welwyn Garden City recently granted their residents’ wish to go ten-pin bowling. Ken Jones, Shirley Williams, Vera creasy, Sandra Thompson and Jessie Skeggs were all keen to go and have a game at their local Hollywood Bowl.
The ‘Make a wish’ initiative has seen residents from Oakview Lodge and across the Country Court group enjoy special outings and activities; from boat trips and book launches to off-road driving and lots of family tea parties.
The residents thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon bowling, especially Vera who said she had ‘So much fun, I haven’t laughed so much in ages. When can we go again so I can win?’ All the residents were great bowlers, but there was one who stood out and that was ‘bowler of the day Sandra who won with an amazing 103 points,’ commented Wellbeing Coordinator Mihaela.
Residents Sandra and Jessie have known each other for many years before moving into Oakview Lodge and always used to go on trips together to the seaside and enjoyed the occasional ladies’ day with a few drinks. This trip was particularly meaningful for the pair. ‘Sandra said to me after we ate lunch, thank you, I never thought me and Jessie would be able to go out together again.’ Commented Wellbeing Coordinator Rachel.
