Staff at Swanholme Court Care Home in Lincoln arranged for a resident Binnie and her friend to visit The Bentley hotel for an afternoon of indulgence and pampering. Binnie’s wish was fulfilled as part of a ‘Make a wish’ initiative run by Country Court, the company behind Swanholme Court. They were treated to afternoon tea and a manicure in the beauty spa.
Binnie had mentioned on a few occasions that she had never visited a hotel before, and it was something she had always wanted to do. Staff at the care home contacted The Bentley Hotel in Lincoln who were keen to help make Binnie’s wish come true and arranged for her and Sandra, a friend she had met whilst at Swanholme Court to visit.
When asked about her special day Binnie said "I really enjoyed my visit to the hotel. I really liked the hotel, and the staff were very friendly and made me feel very special. My favourite part of the day was looking around some of the rooms."
Sandra also said about the visit, "It was a lovely day, I enjoyed being pampered and the afternoon tea was delicious. All the staff were very helpful."
Binnie grew up in Louth and lived there for most of her life, raising two children and also three grandchildren. Binnie worked as a cleaner, which she loved. She worked for a wealthy couple in their mansion and built up a special relationship with them and she also cleaned for a gentleman who was the voice of a dalek in Dr Who.
Binnie is at her happiest when listening to music which she loves to do with Sandra, and they have formed a wonderful friendship. Binnie is the life and soul of Swanholme and when the trip was being arranged, Binnie explained that she wanted to take her friend with her to share the experience.
Sandra was born in Sleaford and has always lived in Lincolnshire. She worked as a cleaner as well as being a volunteer at a British heart foundation store.
Swanholme Court Care Home is situated in a quiet residential area of Lincoln and provides family-led residential care in a warm, homely setting. Catering for up to 27 residents, the home is small and cosy, with a real family atmosphere. The caring and compassionate staff get to know each resident individually, providing personalised care and really helping them enjoy daily life at Swanholme.
