Baycroft Flitwick Care Home near Ampthill was alive with festive spirit as the local community came together to celebrate the annual Christmas Fayre. With a fantastic turnout from residents, families, and local community members, the event proved to be a resounding success, raising over £670 which will go towards an extra special activity for residents at Baycroft Flitwick.

‘The Christmas Fayre featured a wonderful variety of stalls, including Wendy, the daughter of a former resident, selling beautiful crochet gifts alongside her friend’s treat jars, mugs, and coasters; Joanne, the granddaughter of a current resident, showcasing baby clothes and running a competition while her father sold bric-a-brac; Jasmine with an array of skincare products; Jeremy with two stalls of stunning jewellery; Carole offering homemade crafts and cards; a stall with handmade gift boxes; and Carers in Bedfordshire running two stalls, one with knitted gifts made by local ladies and another with a tombola and information about their important work.’ Commented Customer Relations Manager Samantha Jones.

‘We held our own festive Tombola, Bottle Stall, Sweet Cone Stall, New & Pre-Loved Toys, and Craft Gifts lovingly made by our residents. We also hosted a lucky dip and a children’s colouring competition. All of which went down swimmingly. Winners will be announced at the Baycroft Flitwick Christmas Party on December 20th, when residents will select winners for both the raffle and colouring competition.’ Commented Wellbeing Coordinator Lead Bernie Hoo-Hing.

Throughout the day, guests were serenaded by the talented Bob Jack, whose guitar and vocals brought a festive touch to the event. Resident Graham also joined him for a memorable duet, adding a personal touch that attendees won’t soon forget. Guests enjoyed mince pies and mulled wine as they browsed the stalls.

“We are overjoyed by the incredible support from the community,” said Home Manager Corina Ashby.  “It was wonderful to see our residents engaging with visitors, helping at stalls, and enjoying the music and festivities. The event truly reflected the spirit of togetherness and festive fun.”

Visitors praised the event commenting ‘How wonderful are all these raffle prizes’, ‘I can’t get over the creativity of the stalls, and the heartwarming atmosphere upon entering the home’. Residents also expressed their delight at being part of the celebration and seeing so many smiling faces.

‘With £560 raised during the Fayre and an additional £110 from the ongoing raffle we aim to use all proceeds towards enhancing the lives of residents with the much-anticipated Interactive Activity Table.’ Commented Wellbeing Coordinator Lead Bernie Hoo-Hing.

‘On behalf of everyone at Baycroft Flitwick Care Home, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this year’s Christmas Fayre a memorable success.’ Commented Customer Relations Manager Samantha Jones.
