Staff and residents at Ferrars Hall Care Home in Huntingdon wished Winifred Scott a very happy 100th Birthday this week. Winifred, who was born on 9th March 1920, has lived at the Huntington Care Home since September 2018. Winifred had a wonderful day, she especially enjoyed receiving her birthday card from Her Majesty The Queen and flowers from friends and family.
When asked her secret to living a long-life Winifred said, “I believe that it is in our family genes, eating healthily and helping others”. Winifred is an active participant in life at Ferrars Hall and loves to join in with the activities on offer “In particular my favourites are the gardening club, flower arranging and Zumba” she said. She used to part of an operatic society and always looks forward to singing and entertainment.
Originally from Ireland, Winifred moved to England aged 17. As a girl she was a keen dancer, winning medals in Irish step dancing. On leaving school she trained as a nurse and started at Archway Hospital in London and went on to work at Hounslow Hospital. Winifred has one son, Peter who is married to Margaret.
Home Manager Susan Dunnell said “We wish Winifred a very happy 100th Birthday from all the Ferrars Hall family and congratulate her on reaching this momentous milestone. It was our great pleasure to host her birthday tea party with fellow residents and her family and we are delighted that she enjoyed her day.”
